The Bible is filled with powerful prayers that will open your heart and deepen your faith. Here are 5 powerful prayers from the Bible to unite your time with God.
1. Jabez's Prayer
While listing a long list of descendants of Judah, the author of Chronicles focused his attention on a man named Jabez, a truly respectable man. If you've ever felt guilty for causing someone else's suffering, or if you want to believe that God can do more than you ask or imagine, this prayer is for you: “Jabez prayed to the God of Israel, saying, “O God, bless me abundantly, expand my borders. May your hand be with me, and keep me from all evil, and keep me out of trouble" (1 Chronicle 4:10).
2.General Prayer
This is truly a canonical prayer. Most of us already know this prayer by heart and can repeat it at any time. But there is more to this model prayer that Jesus has given us than recitation. This is a prayer of real power.
“Our Father in heaven; The Father's name is sanctified; The Father's Kingdom is coming; My will is done, on earth as it is in heaven; Give us today our daily bread; Forgive us our sins; As we have forgiven those who sin against us; Please do not let us be tempted, But deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:9-13).
3. Jonah's Salvation Prayer
We may never be swallowed up by a big fish, but we still experience the shame and regret Jonah felt after he fled from God. The prophet's invocation to the Father forms a bitter mass for our prayer of repentance. And remember that the Lord heard and answered this humble, sincere prayer: “I call on the Lord in my trouble; Then You answered me; From the belly of the underworld, I cry out; Then He heard my voice. You threw me into the abyss; At the bottom of the sea; And a great stream of water surrounds me. All His waves and three peaches; All over the child; I lament: “I have been cast out before Your eyes; Even so, I still look up to Your sanctuary; Water covers me to my soul; The abyss surrounds me on all sides; The moss on the baby's head screwed up. I have come down to the foot of the mountains; The earth has bolted it on you forever. O Lord my God; You brought my life up out of the pit! When my soul languishes within me; Then I remember Jehovah; And my prayer reaches Thee, Into Thy sanctuary. Those who care for vanity lie; Then leave your mercy. But I will use words of thanks; And offer sacrifices to Him; I will pay for what I promised. Salvation comes from Jehovah!”
4. David's Prayer for Deliverance
This prayer is a difficult choice because the Psalms are full of cries and pleas. David's words in his battle are closely related to our modern working environment and way of life: “O Jehovah! Your enemies are too many. The number of people who rose up against you was innumerable. Many people say of me, "God will not deliver him". (Selah); But again Jehovah! You are my shield; You are my glory and the One who lifts my head up. I cried out to the Lord with a loud voice; And from the holy mountain, You answered me. I lie down and sleep soundly; I wake up, for the Lord sustains me. I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people; Surrounded on all sides. O Lord, help me out. My God, save me. For You slap all my enemies on the cheek; And break the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to Jehovah. May God bless His people!”
5. Anne's Prayer of Praise
When Anne had the child she asked God for, the first thing she did was praise the One who provided. She wanted to thank Him for His greatness and salvation. We often pray before receiving but then forget to pray after God answers. Let the following prayer guide you in giving thanks to God: “My heart rejoices in Jehovah; Through Jehovah, my strength is exalted. My mouth laughs at my enemies; For Your deliverance makes me glad. There is no one holy like Jehovah; There is no other God but Him. There is no rock like our God. Stop saying arrogant words. Do not let arrogant words come out of your mouth. Jehovah is a God of all knowledge; He evaluates every action. The bow of the brave is broken, But the weak are girded with strength. Those who are full must work to earn a living, But the hungry are no longer hungry. The woman was barren, gave birth seven times; And those who have many children, are more wilted and emaciated. Jehovah causes death, and gives life; He brought people down to the underworld and then brought them up again. Yahweh makes poor, and makes rich; He lowers people low, also raises people high; Bring the afflicted out of the dust, And lift up the poor from the ashes; Place them next to the nobility, And let them inherit the high place; For the pillars of the earth belong to the Lord; He put the world on it. He will guard the footsteps of those who are faithful to Him, But the wicked are destroyed in darkness; Because man does not prevail by strength. The husbands of the Lord will be smashed. From above, the Lord will send thunder and lightning to them. He will judge all the people of the earth; Give power to the one He chooses to be king; And give abundant strength to the anointed.”
