any thoughts on how to get a snake out of a basement. I read snakes don't like sulphur. and it can be bought as ag sulphur at farm stores and it s 10 percent lime. to sprinkle that around. others thought vibrations. What do you think? any ideas?

First off: Identify the snake...maybe a local experienced exterminator
can help...Second; if they're 'Bull snakes' they're harmless, but ya still don't want them in your house...'Bull snakes' belong outside in your garden...they're a great natural protector of ones own garden
protecting you from plant eating rodents=rats-mice-moles-etc

Chicken houses or brooder houses, not so much...they eat freshly hatched chicks

FYI: All snakes look for places to hibernate in cold weather...your
basement just happened to be convenient.

I think it might be a northern water snake or maybe an eastern fox snake. I'll try to upload a picture tomorrow if he's still there.
